This month, we’re proud to spotlight two extraordinary EMS partners demonstrating courage, professionalism, and a commitment to saving lives.
Gonzales County Emergency Service District 1 stepped up after a November 28, 2025 fire at Concan Fire & EMS destroyed one ambulance, a firetruck and caused significant damage to the station. According to Uvlade Leader News, no one was injured, and the remaining vehicles allowed Concan to continue responding to calls across northern Uvalde County. Recognizing the immediate need to maintain patient care, Gonzales County ESD 1 generously loaned an ambulance, ensuring uninterrupted operations while repairs and replacements were underway. Honolulu EMS was part of a remarkable chain of heroes on October 4 when Kalihi resident Sherisse Domingo nearly drowned at the Kāneʻohe Sandbar. From Good Samaritans to EMS dispatchers, lifeguards and hospital clinicians, seamless teamwork saved her life. According to Hawaii News Now, EMS dispatchers coached bystanders through CPR, lifeguards intervened and hospital staff prepared for her arrival. Recently, Domingo reunited with her rescuers, expressing deep gratitude for their coordinated efforts that gave her a rare second chance (Witness the reunion here).
Both stories highlight how preparation, quick thinking and strong partnerships make a life-saving difference.
